The size difference comes from the fact that FLAC compresses the files “losslessly”, meaning that it preserves all of the original data and the files are therefore not the same compressibility. MP3 encoding is “lossy”, so it just throws away whatever data it believes will not matter to the listener in order to achieve it’s goals. That’s where the uniformity in size of MP3 files comes from.
These files go through several tests and quality control checks before I release them. Visual, auditory, spectral analysis, playability, extractability, playability after extraction, etc. etc. This ensures that the data is as intended after the files are compressed as either FLAC or MP3.
